Women without Pedigrees
that's the title of Katka Želinská's novel, which I had the honor of illustrating. It was actually my first collaboration with a writer and publisher (Zuzka Dušičková), the result of which is a finished book with beautiful stories, supplemented by my drawings. The author writes about extraordinary-ordinary women and their destinies, about coincidences, sometimes about accidents, about a piece of happiness in misfortune, but not always about happy endings. The novel is also a generational statement – about a time in which we live in other people's imaginations or we don't live at all, we just chase after what we don't know, but someone called it life instead of us. About a time in which we not only lose our ideals, but sometimes we don't even know how to create them.
